Topgolf nears deal for its first South Florida golf entertainment facility, which would create 450 jobs

Topgolf could soon seal a deal for its first golf/entertainment complex location in South Florida, which would support 450 permanent jobs.
The Miami Gardens City Council will vote on the development agreement for the 65,000-square-foot, $23 million project on Dec. 14. The property was rezoned in 2015. The city owns the 15.34-acre site at State Road 7 and Northwest 7th Avenue – behind the Walmart at 17650 N.W. 2nd Ave.
The development agreement would allow the city’s sale of that property for $4.3 million to Hallandale Beach-based Urban Property Holdings, managed by James Levin. The buyer would then execute a ground lease with Topgolf for its facility.
Its locations include a multi-level driving range, a steel mesh net supported by poles up to 170 feet high and a restaurant.
According to Topgolf’s presentation to the city in October, it would spend over $23 million building its facility and create 260 construction jobs. Once completed, Topgolf would create 450 permanent jobs and generate a local economic impact of $265 million over the next 10 years. The city estimated it would receive $201,000 in annual property tax from the facility.
Officials from Topgolf couldn’t immediately be reached for comment. According to its website, Topgolf has 30 venues serving 12.2 million guests annually.
For Miami Gardens, this facility would be a huge boost to the city’s plan to revitalize its U.S. 441 corridor. If the development agreement is approved, Topgolf must still obtain its building permits, which are currently under city and county review.
