For online consumers who have drifted away from shopping malls, it may be time to consider a return to the Town Center at Boca Raton, which is undergoing a multi-million dollar makeover designed to mimic a resort.
Already, the grand entrance near the mall’s center court has received glass porte-cochères with programmable multi-colored lighting and water features. Valet parking service includes a text-ahead car retrieval. Visitors can also avail themselves of a shuttle service to a nearby bus station. Free-wheeling shoppers who make multiple purchases have access to bell hop carts

Charging stations for electric cars, doggie strollers and a café concierge are among other recent upgrades.

“As the market evolves and continues to grow, we saw an opportunity to take the Town Center at Boca Raton to the next level,” said Sal Saldana, general manager at Town Center at Boca Raton.“The project is a continuation of our commitment to elevate our shopping and dining experience for our customers.”

Saldana, who started working for the mall in 2013, said that Town Center continuously upgrades its surroundings to keep up with the times. He said management strives to offer shoppers resort-like amenities to make their visits more than a normal trip to the mall.

“When we do renovations and modifications, we look at what the local market wants and needs,” Saldana said. “We’re just turning it up a notch.”

Owned by Simon and located at 6000 Glades Road, Town Center at Boca Raton features about 220 stores and will remain open during the remodeling process.

The mall’s interior and exterior will get major upgrades, including new stone and porcelain tile floors, elevated retailer storefronts, LED lighting and a new boutique entrance between Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue.

The court itself will be updated with a stone fountain, contemporary seating and other fixtures. Seating areas will be upgraded with new carpet, furniture and charging stations.

Gensler, a design firm with an office located in Miami, will serve as the design architect. VCC Construction, whose project portfolio includes Dadeland Mall in Miami, is the project’s general contractor.

The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of next year.
