Hall of Fame baseball player Mike Piazza hopes to get his mitt on a nice chunk of cash by selling his waterfront mansion in Miami Beach.

The retired catcher and wife Alicia Piazza have listed their home at 1401 W. 27th St. for $18.5 million. They are represented by the Coldwell Banker team of the Jills, Jill Eber and Jill Hertzberg.

See the gallery for photos of the Piazza home.

“This grand estate evokes a true California-meets-Italy feel,” Hertzberg said. “Incredibly unique, this welcoming home features custom details, meticulously thought-out spaces and exquisite taste.”

Located on a 20,000-square-foot lot on Sunset Islands, the 9,647-square-foot home was built in 2001. It has eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a half-bathroom, library, two-bedroom guest house, Jerusalem stone floor, fireplace with handcrafted marble mantle, full bar with with wine cooler and cigar humidor, home theater, custom-built playhouse, heated pool with spa, and smart home technology features.

With 100 feet of water frontage, the home includes a dock and boat lift.

“Perfect for entertaining, this smart home exudes the best of waterfront luxury and style,” Eber said. “Located on the exclusive Sunset Islands, the home is very private, yet offers great proximity to Miami Beach’s Art Deco District and much more.”

Piazza bought the home for $10 million in 2008, a year after he retired. A 12-time All Star, he played mostly with the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Piazza had a brief stint with the Florida (now Miami) Marlins in 1998. He also performed – in a very different way – for the Miami City Ballet in 2013.
